I’ve totally had similar thoughts and get where you’re coming from! I’ve spent so much energy to build a Steemit page that portrays “quality content” that I was a little nervous to do short form content like you see on Appics.

I honestly think that it is become much more socially acceptable to have short form content, but I also wish that they were ways to keep it separate!

Here’s what I’ve done:

I only post short form content every once in a while on my page - and then use a secondary account (@shinebright) to make more short form content from dapps like Appics and Actifit.

That being said though, I ultimately think that you should follow inspiration and just post whatever you feel like! Some days that might be a longer form content, and some days it might be fun Instagram type photos! There’s a reason that Instagram is the fastest growing social media platform right now. People love quick, consumable content!

Sorry for the delay in response, just saw this now!

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one concerned with this. I like your idea/strategy of another account; however, if I'm being honest, I want to leverage the audience I've built on my own account (rather than starting from scratch).

Hopefully there will be a way of categorizing content on steemit.com in the future.

Thanks for adding your thoughts :)

Yeah, I've had similar thoughts, but I actually think the instagramization of social media is kind of unavoidable unless Steemit.com wanted to institute a minimum word count for a post to appear. Maybe someday soon someone will create a steem interface that segments post types into categories (somehow figuring out how to automate this). Would be interesting to see how many would fit into the general shitpost category.

One thing I will say is that for some reason when I post to APPICS I tend to push myself to post higher quality photos because I want to raise the bar. So there's that.

Good points.

Sorry I hit enter too quickly, great points. I love most things about the APPICS experience and interface. I have been saying for years that categories on Steemit.com would be really helpful. I also agree about the photo quality aspect for APPICS; although, I didn’t post many stand alone photos on steemit.
