What is cooking? (Downvoting rules bad content)

Good content, downvoting.. it kept my mind busy in the past week.

Will I join the group downvoters?

What is good content and what not?

Steemit claimed to be better as FaceBook, different. If I read posts many are the same or not more as a Tweet. "Steemit is not a blogging site but a Twitter on the blockchain", someone replied to a post of mine.

Steemit is not the right place to be for real writers/authors, it is the same for artists. Most who join Steemit want to post fast, earn fast, will perhaps vote and leave. Many vote automatically, vote without reading, the rich are self voting and votes are bought to make the 20 Steem.

Today I read content for 5 hours.
I can tell you it is disappointing!
Since no one can tell me what good content is I will set my own rules.

1. Good content contains text! About 200 words at least (exceptions poetry, art, writing contests).
2. Good content is a good read.
3. Good content is informative or helpful or enjoyable for now but also in the future.
4. Good content can contain a photo, meme but this is not necessary.
5. Good content means a good edit as well! It is not good if it is chaotic to read and it contains more advertisement and links as text.
6. Good content tells the source if there is any.

What about photos/memes?

• Photos shared by @appics or via @partiko or steemit.com, etc. should have text too. It can be less but just a picture is not enough (exception can be a contest but if that is the case you can write it down).
• Memes are easy to share and seldom original. I think they should have text too. I noticed some posts this morning using the tag #meme and it was only a picture.
• I saw some terrible steepshot posts showing up again. Bad photo quality and no text. This is also not good content.

What about @actifit

Actifit stimulates and rewards good content. This means only posting the report with two or three lines is not sufficient. I agree it is not easy to write in the small field (same if it comes to @appics) but it can be done (write in your notes and copy-paste the text).

Citations from the Bible and Quran.

This is also not good content. Citing some lines with or without YouTube link is bad content and they can count on my downvote if there is no text added to it.
Just citing two lines out of a famous book is also not accepted.
You can easily add some text why you decided to post these lines.

Statistics

Without text, this is not good content.
No matter if you come up with the daily prizes of cryptocurrencies, soccer competitions, your own earnings, a steem-engine screenshot or the Top 100 of Music of the age.

Contests and Announcements winners.

Most of them count 200 words and I consider them as good content.

I expect communities to write good content too. You cannot ask it from your members if you do not practice it yourself.

If the new Steem is better we will find out.

As long as you are not a big fish I might leave you a comment instead of a downvote. I still believe this is a more helpful way to help newbies/minnows to improve themselves.
