I hate apple so much.
Ok, first I must say I've been using the same imac for around 10 years. This buddy never failed me and I have no complaint about it. I've only had to add some RAM 4 years ago and it works perfectly!!
Why do I hate apple so much then? For everything else!
I've had an ipod classic for 14 months... Yeah, 2 months after the 1-year warranty my 300 or more Go of music vanished away. The ipod was plugged on a power bar (using apple wire) and the electricity shut down and went back after a couple of minutes.
It kills my ipod classic. Weird cause my phone and my portable that were plugged on the same power bar never had any problem.
I went to the apple store and they told me, "there's nothing we can do when the warranty has expired". I was pissed and I wanted my ipod back so I went to a small independent shop to fix it... Well, basically, they told me that it was going to be cheaper to buy a new one.
2 years ago I've bought an ipad4 on kijiji for 200$. Everything was fine until last week.
I've always used a regular usb cable (not the apple one) and charger to recharge the ipad but one day the battery went red and I was unable to recharge it.
My girlfriend went to Best Buy and I asked her to buy the apple cable and charger. She handed me the bill... 60$ ???!!! What the %$#%
I opened very carefully the box, tried the cable and it wasn't working.
Then, I went on youtube and find a tutorial to check if the battery and the connector were fine.
Believe me, I do have experience with electronic and especially tablet/phone devices... In 2010 I was selling android tablets before it became popular. Basically, for Xmas 2010, in the province of Quebec, you could've only bought an ipad or the tablets I was selling. It didn't last long, android tablets became popular quickly and I decided to do something else for a living.
Just to make it clear, I was repairing all kinds of tablets... so I thought it was going to be easy to quickly fix an ipad.
I was so wrong! First the screen and the touch panel are clipped and glued on the body of the ipad. It's designed to discourage you from opening your ipad.
I've had to use a hair dryer and it was really hard to remove the screen. And guess what, I've wrecked the touch screen. I've opened more than 150 android tablet before and I've never had any problem with the touch screen.
I've changed the battery anyway, but the ipad didn't want to charge with my USB cable after that.
I've bought another UBS cable (not apple) and it wasn't working either. After checking on the internet, I've found that the new cable was actually charging but very slowly.
I'm complaining about apple but this is happening everywhere. Every corporation forces us to use crappy electronic devices to make sure it's going to break and we're going to buy another one.
I've had the same problem with my phone, the washing machine, the dryer and even my oven!
I'm so sick of it!
I really wonder why there are no laws to force those companies to deliver products that are going to last and/or that we can easily repair.
So, from a hardware point of view (don't start me on planned obsolescence softwares), this is why I hate apple so much.
