At the time of the whole connected, the museums made quite easily the choice of digital in order to be a maximum playful and public. But in Milan, the Atelier Clerici (exhibition venue) has decided to unveil RAM House, a house in which new technologies won't last long!
An innovative house
RAM House (Radar-Absorbent Material) is a device to cut itself from the modern world from the inside. According to the architect who initiated this project, Joseph Grima, it is a building with a "Flight mode". In a world where our homes have become the most technologically burdened place we live, Grima and her collaborators have decided to build a model home that encourages us to be more aware of their impact on our lives. This construction allows us to block all incoming electromagnetic signals. According to Grima, the idea is not to banish all forms of technology for life, but rather to establish a new relationship with new technologies and regain control.
A digital panic room
This model house is composed of a kitchen, a bathroom and a bookshop. Each room is connected and can be turned off simply by closing the doors, thus, creating a shield that absorbs signals from the outside.
With this prototype, Grima has turned this project into a veritable digital panic room, pointing to one of the major problems of today's world: our addiction to new technologies. A true refuge in modern times!
We can, therefore, imagine that the 'house of the future' although fully connected, will also allow us to breathe and isolate ourselves from any technology.
