To be appreciated means to be loved, accepted, and thought of as important by another person in relation to a job or action.
When someone says "thank you," it means that someone has seen, thought about, and respected what they did. In some situations, it might only be liked by one person, while other times, many people might enjoy it.
A little kid gets really excited to see how his parents react when he learns to swim for the first time. Or can you think of a time when you carefully finished a task and turned it in while you were waiting for feedback from a coworker?
When you do something good, do you ever look back to see if anyone noticed?
Since the beginning of time, everyone, no matter what age, has wanted to be seen and accepted. Some people naturally want to be noticed, and that need is met. However, it is not seen as one of the most basic human needs1.
Appreciation changes our bodies, feelings, and behaviours, and this is well known. So much so that a lot of thoughts and sensations start to come to the surface during these times.
Being praised is a great feeling because it means that other people can see what you're thinking, feeling, and doing. Besides that, he feels living, useful, and whole when he can share all of these things.
At the same time, people want their ideas, feelings, and actions, which show up in different ways, to be understood, liked, and valued. People think that humans have an innate need to belong to an idea, a feeling, a work, or even just a group. Because of this, it makes sense that humans would want to be valued.
Appreciating and being appreciated are two of the most usual and important rules in business. As the name suggests, business life is a place where we are always making work, talking to other people, listening, and moving.
From many points of view, it is very helpful when our coworkers appreciate the work we do, the actions we think are important, worthwhile, and successful, and even our communication skills.
No matter what we do in our daily lives, we have to be driven to do it. Motivating ourselves moves us forward and makes us want to do something. Both internal and external factors have a big impact on our high level of drive. At the moment, it is thought that being appreciated is a major outside factor that motivates people.
People's performance improves when their hard work is noticed and appreciated at work6, which is to be expected. Research has shown that people are more likely to work hard and make things when they feel appreciated.
