Aquaponics Farm Visit! The Video!!

in aquaponics •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hey everyone, about 5 months ago I visited a rather new aquaponics farm, they were still developing the system the plants were relatively small and the system was still maturing. I decided to have another visit today and take more pics as well as a few video's and that's what I did.

Here is my first of 4 Videos, featuring the flood and drain/nft hybrid system. This system has Mozambique Tilapia which feeds the plants as well as when mature make a great plate fish. More on them as per wikipedia here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozambique_tilapia

Here we have sweet basil on Floating Raft Polystyrene beds, with highly oxygenated mineral rich water effectively feeding the plants. This can be seen by the lush green healthy leaves..

The first Technical Bulletin in this series covers hydroponic growing methods used in aquaponics and lists reading materials, videos, and online resource pages. Future Bulletins will cover aquaculture components; fish selection and management; and plant selection and management.

Aquaponics is so cool, I used to have a small setup with tilapia. Going to upscale the next time I do it and have a trout pond.

Awesome bud ye trout are amazing I had them but the climate was too hot.

As I'm developing our aquaponics system, Im beginning to agree that no better way exists.

Cool to see chives in aquaponics, that's a new one for us!
