Sold All My AR-15s But 3

in ar-15 •  7 years ago

Welcome back to Denny Ducet the Channel - This channel has quite the array of firearms and participants with a sizable and diverse arsenal. However not all of the firearms in the quote armory are my own - for obvious reasons the biggest being financial. It would be nearly impossible to justify such an expenditure and investment in so large an assortment of similar platforms - and yes I know some would disagree with that.

Today, I wanted to share with the viewers who have patiently waited and in the past requested a video regarding the AR’s you will never sell. Well this is it. As a matter of fact - I indeed sold every other AR I have ever purchased, traded for or owned other than these three. These are the 3.

Each platform is different, each purpose driven, each having evolved several times and weighed against others in the safe as far as being a keeper or a seller. Don’t worry to much about the firearms sold - the money stayed in the “defense - arms budget”.

This video may help relay my philosophy on the AR and what AR variants are in my personal opinion the ones to keep.

Firearm 1: MK18 or CQBR in all its iterations

The CQBR is a proven handy, SBR configuration that is ideal for home defense, vehicle operations, lightweight portability, storability, mobility, you get the idea. It is a small and handy carbine capable of reliable and accurate shots from the 0 (zero) - to - 450 meters. Did I land on those numbers randomly? NO. I am personally experienced in using this particular MK18 out to 450 meters on steel with a good rest and employing the KAC irons sights - there is a video on this channel that reflects that. As a CQB firearm that was developed by US Special Operations, I trust in their findings, testings and development of the platform - being that their ammunition and field testing budget exceeds my lifetime earnings. It is in my opinion as short as one should go while still employing the 556 cartridge and that is backed by quantifiable data from studies by the US Navy and CRANE - there is a PPT somewhere out there on the internet you can look for supporting this.

Colt 6920 - To resemble the M4A1 - Military proven versatile light carbine. This is the all purpose. Of the 3 here, likely the one. The one I would grab and go with if forced to leave the others behind. This “pattern” if you chose to call it that is likely the most common barrel length and gas tube combination in the world (yes the real M4A1 is 14.5” and this is the legal 16”). Without the trouble of the NFA route, this was as close as one could get to getting the real deal Colt as used and proven by the largest employer of the M4 style weapon in the world - US Military. Some parts that may not align with a “clone” however I felt the Centurion rail was a leap above some of the rails and fore ends used on standard M4A1 and A2. Again this is just my opinion. I like the Centurion rails. This is a mid range to almost reaching the ballistic capability of the 556. The ACOG allows for up close employment of the iron sight on top, the 4x crystal clear bomb proof and proven TA01NSN is an all purpose distance capable scope of proven reliability.
I consider this a great carbine for 50-500 meters and all around use.

On to the SPR Rifle you see above. This is the stranger of the group. Chambered in 6.8 SPC II this was my move away from the 556 and my branching into another caliber for the AR platform. Now the purpose her is not to discuss the merits of the 6.8 SPC - I have 2 articles on 6.8 platforms featured on this channel over on the blog for those who like to read words. This was the platform where I wanted to get the most distance and energy capable out of the AR 556 CHASSIS - notice I said chassis. I wanted to stay in the smaller lighter AR receiver world without jumping up to the AR-10. I base this build on other builds I had assisted on as well as a familiar 6.8 that another member of the channel here has employed in hunting . This was my hunting, slash distance, slash SPR slash MK12 style but in a little bigger ball. I have a video on this rifle and there will be more to come for sure. This is a heavier setup however offers me some smile worthy precision when shooting at distance.

Those are the 3 - Each covers areas of the other 3 somewhat - however each has a specialty niche that if performs better than the others. If that makes any sense.

I’m funding a highly custom Late Lancaster Style - Hand made - custom Pennsylvania Flintlock Rifle. An heirloom - a gem of a rifle built by a master.

There now you can say you know of a guy who sold a boat load of ARs to fund a Flintlock.
