"El Ghriba" synagogue is, according to the kohanim (jewish priest), more than 2500 years old. He said some jews brought the corner stone from the solomon's temple in jerusalem in 486 BCE and built the synagogue in this place. Jews of the world are gathering here every year for pilgrimage. Unfortunately, many tunisians still mistake Judaism for Zionism, including my friend whom I couldn't convince to even get close to the synagogue. He said "they're all the same, they just don’t show it". Well, I respect his opinion but that would also make us all muslims terrorists which is not true.
This photo was supposed to be one of my darkest secrets for fear of being judged, because most of muslims might think it's against our religion to wear that Jewish hat they call "kippah". Actually, it felt wrong at first. But then I remembered that we ask women to wear scarfs (hijabs) when they visit muslim mosques even if they don’t have that practise in their faith, so it's more of an act of respect to something that has a spiritual importance to someone.
Now I figured out, if I could understand this then everyone can. I want to speak up what's in my mind and post this in the very @arabsteem selfie challenge to get to discuss it with everyone, especially, but not only, fellow arabs.
I know you meant it should be something funny when you said "The more fun the pic is, the more likely you are to win" but what could possibly be more fun the coexistence and tolerance ?
