A hug for history
I took this selfie in El-Mathaf (Museum) area-Beirut where three monuments are gathered in one place, The Beirut National Museum, the tomb of the Unknown Soldier and a number of monolithic Roman columns.
The Beirut National museum is the main archeological museum in Lebanon, it contains artifacts dating back to prehistory, bronze age, iron age, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Islamic and Mamluk periods.
The grave of the Unknown Soldier that represents the sacrifices presented by the Lebanese army defending the Country and People.
The Monolithic columns crowned by the amazing carvings that show the interesting Roman architecture (this type of columns is called Roman Tuscan).
The columns were first constructed to the purpose of supporting ceilings without using solid walls, the Roman columns in Lebanon were built during their rule (64 BC-646 AD)
المجد للشهداء
god bless every man who gave his life to make this blessed land be better.
And god help us make it even better than they left it to us.
