Buthidaung: Rohingya Children under the age of 15 are severely suffering from flu and malaria in this rainy season. Deprivation of healthcare and travel restrictions in the region are pushing them towards avoidable deaths in all village tracks of Buthidaung Township, according to updates received on 29th July 2018.

The little existing healthcare services have been totally barred for Rohingya since the start of the state-sponsored violence in 2012.
Travel restrictions, the requirement of travel permit and cutting access of International NGOs to the region have further worsened the health issues of the Rohingya.
Thousands of Rohingya children under the age of five die every year due to malnutrition and lack of treatment.

Medical services have been barred in the region even in the case of emergency patients.

Even if any patients have enough money to travel, the long procedure of travel permits and travel restrictions have taken hundreds of Rohingya's lives while traveling on roads and in vehicles.
In Mingisi (Mee Kyaung Zay) village track alone, currently, 63 Rohingya patients are fighting with hepatitis C and B and are in need of immediate treatment.
According to locals, if the patients are left neglected, they might die soon.
In the same village tract, killings of entire family members of 23 elderly couples have left them alone without anyone to take care. Most of the old couples are over 70 years old and needs healthcare facilities as well.

In the same military massacre last year, 17 Rohingya children in that village lost their parents and are living in the mercy of neighbors and relatives.

Locals fear that, if these children are not taken care of well, they might either die due to hunger or lack of healthcare.
The scene in Mingissi village track is not a new scene for the remaining survivals. It’s now the daily experience of every third village in northern Arakan (Rakhine) state.
Since late 2017, the Burmese government forced more than 800,000 Rohingya towards the camps in Bangladesh and now the dignified return of those Rohingya with their security seems unlikely.
