Treasures found in Ukraine that do not fall into the museum: A complex of coins of the Roman Empire

in archaeology •  7 years ago

Coins of the Roman Empire - this is my illness. I can not look without admiration at these works of art, and when there are a lot of them at once, I do bastard. Over the course of my career as a treasure hunter, I found more than 300 Roman coins, sold most of it, gave away the rest, I was not sick with collecting then, and when I started collecting, I very much regretted that I did not do it from the very beginning.

Just yesterday at the Ukrainian online auction was sold a set of Roman coins in the amount of 150 pieces, only 104 000 hryvnia. I did not even try to participate in the auction, realizing that I would not draw such a sum. Just watching and letting saliva, well, I drove away the "toad" which choked me))

In the description, the owner of the lot said that this is a collection - it gave me a big smile. No self-respecting collector will pour coins into such heaps, they are stored in albums, so as not to be scratched. That it was not: treasure, "mortgage" or all the same collection, the fact remains a fact - it is found in Ukraine.
Where these coins will be after the auction - this is a completely different matter, I think that they will sail to European auctions, they are pretty beautiful.

Wow, those are some impressive photos! It's amazing how well these coins age. Some of these look only a few hundred years old. You would never think they are as old as they are. @ironshield

Beautiful. This is history. There will never be another Roman Empire. To own those coins is almost like having a time machine. Are they made out of silver?

The dream of any search engine with a metal detector.
