flint tools found in yorkshire , 4000 years old

in archiology •  7 years ago

these i have found on the moors , the winter rain washs away the soil , these moors were wooded and were only cleared of trees relativly recently to turn the area into grouse shooting areas and to rear sheep to some degree .

the majority of the finds are scapers , the disposable general tool of their day they come in all sizes , down to incredibly small , maybe for children , these were used as cutting tools and for scaping skins

sorry about the nails , been working on the car

you can see how the edge has been worked to provide a seratted cutting edge

my favourite find is an arrow head an early type , a leaf shape , latter ones developed the barbe style , partially copying metal arrow heads

and finally a speatr head not fully finished and an amazing hand axe , that would easily cut and butcher an animal
