Of course the choice of an open courtyard depends on the climate; I think that this architecture is perfect for its site. Plus, I love the concept of the windows: the elevation of this architectonical object reflects interior needs, of light and air in specific positions.

The open courtyard is kinda semi open with the concrete shell covering the whole inner building blocks. That’s the crucial feature that makes the courtyard shady enough for activities. If not, the locals don’t like to get too much sunlight, scorching!
