To admire one of the great collections, be it Asian art or dinosaurs, from Canada's largest museum.
The Royal Ontario Museum watches over six million artistic, archaeological and natural treasures; it is the largest museum in Canada. The ROM is one of the largest and most popular natural history museums in the world.
Since 2008, the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, a huge crystal-shaped glass and aluminum structure, has been overlooking Bloor Street. Home to six new galleries, the Crystal quickly became a symbol of Toronto, and many tourists are photographed in front of the building.
In a small sentence I could summarize by "by far the best museum ever! "
So yes I liked, because absolutely everything is splendid in this museum, since the very singular architecture (part of the building is vintage -1912- the other was completely redone in modern style in 2004), until to the collections it contains.
The museum is a center of natural and cultural history, dating from the beginnings of life on earth to the most modern civilizations. Breathtaking ! The part about precious stones, minerals and meteorites absorbed me, just like the one about the Egyptian civilization!
In a general way, the chronology is well respected between the various galleries (30 in total). I advise however to take a guide, it's free and there are 1 visit per day in French and 4 in English.
All the explanations in each room are bilingual (EN-FR), as are the videos. By installing the App it is even possible to have free access to audioguides.
The basement is dedicated to temporary exhibitions ... which are also worth it!
