Paternoster Vents by Heaterwick Studio (2002)

Paternoster Vents are part of the cooling system for a new development in London, near St. Paul's cathedral. The Vent is made out of stainless steel. The designers minimized the volume of required "stuff" that goes into the structure, and developed a form that suits the aura of the area under the presence of a dominant cathedral.

Who would have thought "vents" could infuse the city with aesthetics?

*헤더윅 스튜디오의 통풍 구조물이에요. *
파터노스터 통풍구는 런던의 성 바울 성당 주변에 설치된 대규모 프로젝트의 냉각 시스템 중의 일부에요. 중요한 건축물이 위치한 장소이니만큼 구조 안에 들어가는 장비들의 부피를 최대한 줄이고, 센스 없는 박스모양 대신 아름다운 구조물로, 대칭되는 형태를 지녀요.

어떻게 통풍구로 도시에 심미성을 불어넣을 생각을 했을지. 정말 헤더윅 같은 건축가가 되어가야겠어요.
