Aloha Steemers,
This week has been great so far ( and I am including the weekend that has just passed).
Over the weekend we had clear blue skies here in London, with the most beautiful cloud arrangements overhead. Although the Sun was shining and it was a bright gorgeous day, it was rather chilly- but that clean crisp skin tingling kind (like you'd just dashed Listerine all over your face). So refreshing.
Although we are deep into Autumn we still have a few trees that are booming with colour with all its leaves intact- they are just on the cusp of turning yellow to orange to brown, but create the most wonderful colour focus to any photo or view.
To be honest as much as I loved the exhibition within the British Museum, I fell in love more so with the design concept and architecture of the building, especially the center. I began to appreciate space whilst doing my degree in Art & English. My lecturer told us to take in the space of any gallery/museum and note how they displayed their art pieces, and how the space was used to exhibit these pieces.
I did a bit of research and the history behind the ceiling of the museum is just as interesting as the artifacts found within.
Originally the vast open space was meant to be a courtyard and garden, however the inner space was then lost to the museums book collection- the library.
in1997- so not that long ago to be honest, the library was relocated to St Pancreas, allowing for this immense space to be open to the public.
The best bit....there was Architectural Competition to redesign the courtyard space, and this was won by Lord Foster! The was a brief for the competition and this was:
1: Revealing hidden spaces
2: Revising old spaces
3:Creating new spaces
I think Lord Foster captured the brief wonderfully, you can feel the space has been revitalized but has elements of a green house, with its glass ceilings, allowing an abundance amount of light in, the white walls and floor creating a modern clean feel.
What do you creatives think??
As I left the building I noticed the buildings in front, with its red bricks. It just looked beautiful-just oh so London!
Also, please look at the sky behind and the cloud arrangement- is it not just gorgeous??
On a side note the festive season is in full swing! with Oxford Circus street decorating its street with the lights.Although you cannot appreciate it as much as it is still light, the sunset behind is just unbelievable with its fiery vibrant colours. That is the one of many of the great things about London; you are guaranteed the most gorgeous sunsets if the sky is clear.
Anyways its been an inspiring weekend- must get back to applying for some more jobs, wish me luck.
Peace and creative vibes all.
Han
These are really beautiful photos! I like the way you have captured the beautiful sky and London architecture. I have lived in London for 15 years and am still amazed by the architecture.

Hi, Thank you!!!! one of the best walks for architecture, is actually on Oxford Circus Street. If we look passed all the store signs and logos, you can see elements of genius and creativity on the buildings. I wish London would implement a rule where you maintain the original elements of these gorgeous buildings and keep in the design theme.

Yes I agree, sometimes on Oxford Street our eyes are drawn to the shop windows (well mine were anyway!) but if you just look up a little it's a whole different world.
