I guess we work on Sunday too...
It rained for a few hours the last couple of days. It's not the rainy season though.
There is still a 25cm discrepancy between points on some of the pentagons that make the floor of the house. To reduce the mistakes and following Adi's model we create 5 lines of the same length for each pentagon to draw a star inside them to check the accuracy of our placement and hopefully correct the mistakes. We now have a mix of ropes and wooden beams to cross every time we go from one angle to another. All this takes more time than you'd think.
The head metal worker who will weld the frame of the two structures that make the bungalow visited the site today. Four of us had a long discussion about the alignment of the steel columns with the foundation. It is reasonable to expect the steel work to be precise but we need to make sure the river stone foundations will be placed correctly, right under each column.
I would like the frame of the steel roof to be built first and brought on site to determine the placement of the foundations. It is a bit more transportation but it will assure the correct placement of the foundations and may save us from making a mistake that might require us to modify one or several stone foundations. The steel worker thinks that bringing one steel triangle ( one fifth of the roof) will be enough to determine the exact points. My back-up plan is to make larger foundations.
Construction workers in Bali often live on site. On bigger projects I even see them living with their families. Many of them come from Java. Yesterday, they started building their housing by nailing thin plywood to an existing structure as a base. Two of the workers will sleep here tonight for the first time.
More deliveries. Sand and and concrete mixer.
