The architect David Maurice, LTD Architectural studio based in Auckland, likes to merge in each of his projects a coherent design, original and qualitative, in harmony with the rural and coastal environment, all in an affordable budget.
Located in the Puhoi district, the house has been designed to provide a home for the architect and his family. The property is inspired by the traditional New Zealand hut and offers a simple place to live that puts family values first. David Maurice created this home as an open plan structure, with a volume designed to spend time together while cooking, dining and relaxing, and additional extensions for the rooms. Glass doors opening on an accordion lead to a terrace with an outdoor fireplace and two built-in bathtubs. The residence improves the connection between the family and their relationship with the surrounding rural environment.
