Extension of glass for a house of Marcel Breuer

in architecture •  7 years ago

The famous architect and modernist designer Marcel Breuer, designed this house in 1951, its current owner had an extension before selling the house for $ 4.35 million.
To avoid damaging or disfiguring this historic monument, the owner entrusted the realization of this extension of glass and metal to the New York architect, Toshiko Mori.
This new structure now houses parents' and children's rooms, a living space and garage. The extension is connected to the original house by a glass staircase.

Very impressive design and engineering, but sometimes, the restoration leads to a lack of aesthetic value and lose touch Thank you for your beautiful pictures

Sleek looking modern addition. Doesn't overpower the design of the old and in fact compliments it even more.

The result is great, so it was definitely worth working with reliable specialists to help with house extension. However, I know how complicated it can be to find trustworthy specialists in that field, and in my case, working with Lanext Construction for business renovation was the best decision. Project management was great, and I'm more than satisfied with the final work.
