This will be my first post covering the process of designing a mansion in SketchUp. Sometimes, when I'm not doing anything useful, I like to design houses. They tend to be rather large and have a tendency to never get finished. That's why I have chosen to cover the creation of this one on Steemit. I hope sharing my progress here every now and then will inspire me to keep going and keep my motivation where it's supposed to be. All pictures are rendered with Raylectron.
I started by designing the front facade. This was the only part of the project which I could picture clearly in my head. I figured that the rest of the design would come to me eventually.
Of course, the house should have a large, underground garage, so I spent a lot of time modelling the helically sloped path down to the garage.
Inside the house, some stairs lead to what will eventually become the living room, passing a wood panelled room, which I think will be the bathroom.
Here is another view from outside.
I tried a lot of different fence solutions for the ledge by the garage entrance, but as the fence has to lean outwards where it meets the garage entrance walls, it made sense to split it into triangles.
This is a temporary solution I tried for the garage entrance roof. In the end, I wasn't sure if it matched the overall style of the house, so for now, I have chosen not to use it.
The last thing I did before writing this post, was to start creating a staircase which wraps around the curved corner of the bathroom.
I appreciate that you checked out my post and I hope you will continue to follow my somewhat architectural journey.
Great! #cantwaittilligetmybatcave
