Berlin 365 - Ruins

This is the place where I used to study Anatomy. I studied in these halls for over 2 years. This is the place where we learnt the anatomy of the human body while cutting into a dead corpse for the first time. It was a surreal time because of all the new stuff I needed to do back then. We passed most of our time there and I hadn´t been back there since those studying days.

I didn´t know it closed down but was really excited to go and visit the place once more.

I took the same way in as I had done plenty of times back then. Down the stairs into the "changing room". The old basins where we used to wash our hands before and after class were still there. Run down, but still there..

There was the handdryer. It all came back. The chatter, the learning process. It was quite surreal.

Going into abandoned places is always special. You get to go places that you wouldn´t have gotten to before. It was the same here. For the first time, I was able to go to the cellar where they would keep the corpses. This was probably the freakiest part of the whole tour. Situated in the basement with crappy lighting and strange smells.

Running through this place took me more then 6 hours. Back in the studying days, I couldn´t leave quick enough, this time around, it was like timetravel...

It´s hard trying to make destruction look pretty, but I find it fun to actually go out and try to make these abandoned building look a bit lively. There is quite a bit of melancholy seing places I frequented before look so damn run down. It´s a shame to be quite honest.
