Argentina's World Cup win is Inter Milan's Champions League inspiration
Inter Milan made it to the 2022/23 Champions League final after beating AC Milan. Inter's Lautaro Martinez admits Argentina inspired him and his team.
The Nerazzurri qualified for this season's Champions League final after beating the Rossoneri 1-0 in the semi-final second leg on Wednesday (17/5/2023). With this, Simone Inzaghi's boys qualify with a 3-0 aggregate.
Martinez successfully scored one goal in the match earlier this morning. The Argentine man was successfully named Man of the Match.
Martinez admits Argentina's World Cup win inspired him and Inter. he says that team unity is paramount.
"Team cohesiveness is the most important thing. I saw it at the World Cup. If the team is united and going in the same direction, everything becomes easier," Martinez told Sky Sport Italia taken from Football Italia.
Inter deserve to qualify for the final
Lautaro Martinez has faith in Inter after the 2022 World Cup. He believes that La Beneamata have a great chance of reaching the final.
These two semifinal legs are proof of his words. Despite losing possession, Inter created more chances.
Now after winning the World Cup with Argentina, Martinez can become a European champion with the Nerazzurri. He is not afraid of whoever his opponent is in the final.
"Inter deserved to win tonight," said the 25-year-old striker.
"After the World Cup, we knew we had another chance to reach the Final and here we are. Whoever the opponent is, this will be the last match. We've arrived here and want to go as high as possible," he added.
Choosing to Give Thanks
Martinez does not consider the victory over city rivals this morning as a revenge match for last season. He prefers to thank his family.
It is known, the Rossoneri last season successfully won the Serie A title. Scorer 25 goals in all competitions this season for Inter thinks it's just the past.
"That is the past, we started a new season and today we have achieved a very important target for every player," Martinez said.
"I thank my family who help me play football every day, reaching the Champions League final is a dream," said Martinez gratefully.
