All 20 varieties of armadillos live in Latin America and the USA. They are related to anteaters and sloths, but are the only living mammals that are covered in bony plates. They are great at digging burrows and sleep A LOT - up to 16-19 hrs a day! This pretty little armadillo was photographed at the Rancho Texas Zoo in Lanzarote. Rancho Texas is a Western-style theme park, zoo and water-park, great for family outings!
