May the “King” forever live in our hearts: Arnold Palmer dead at 87

A pioneer of the sport of Golf he was part of the big 3 in the 1960’s along with Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus.

Arnold had the looks, played the game with charisma and “When he hits the ball, the earth shakes,” Gene Littler once said.

He helped bring the sport out of the country clubs and to the masses. There wouldn’t be the kind of coverage, viewership, and endorsements there is now without him. The golfers now who make millions should have been thanking the big 3 for that.

Palmer won seven major championships:

The Masters: 1958, 1960, 1962, 1964
U.S. Open: 1960
The Open Championship: 1961, 1962

Arnold Palmer died on Sunday 25 September 2016 at the age of 87 of complications from heart problems.
