Arnold Schwarzenegger Begins Shooting The Terminator

Back in 1984, The Terminator made catchphrase history as the movie to establish Arnold Schwarzenegger as a film star who likes being back, and with the exception of 2009’s Salvation, the actor has followed through on this promise with each new sequel, with the former Governor currently in the process of shooting next year’s reboot.

The news came as a brief aside in a video addressed to Fiji Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama. A frequent advocate of environmental causes, Schwarzenegger congratulated Bainimarama on this weekend’s Climate Action Pacific Partnership conference in Suva. In the middle of showing his support, he gave a quick explanation of why he was unable to attend the event in person: “I’m sorry I cannot be with you but I’m currently shooting Terminator 6 and so this is why I’m not there.”

The film will see the T-800 himself reunite with Sarah Connor for the first time since 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day, with Linda Hamilton making her long-awaited return to the role. Both she and newcomer Mackenzie Davis have been spotted in set photos for the upcoming sci-fi, so don’t be surprised if Schwarzenegger shows up in a few pics of his own very soon.

Of course, Arnie and Hamilton won’t be the only familiar figures coming back to the franchise, with James Cameron returning to assist with production duties. With the new film disregarding everything in the series timeline since the first two entries, it’s clear that Cameron’s hoping to recapture the magic of the classic early entries – an approach that Schwarzenegger voiced his support for last year, telling Business Insider the following:

“I think Cameron and [director Tim] Miller came up with a concept where they can continue on with the T-800 but make a whole new movie. What they are doing now with this one is basically to just take a few very basic characters, like Linda Hamilton’s character and my character, and dismiss everything else. Just move away from all these rules of the timeline and other characters.”

We’ll see if The Terminator can steer the franchise back on course when the film arrives in cinemas on November 22nd, 2019.
