The apostle Peter in his second speech, which he made near the temple of Jerusalem, explained the announcement and the arrival of the Kingdom of God to men. A kingdom that began with Jesus, and that reaches our days through the communion of believers, the church, but was prophesied from old.
And this eternal Kingdom proclaimed by the Lord begins with a change of outlook, the change from a life full of sins to a life of righteousness (golden rule, Matthew 7:12), this Kingdom is a grace that transforms minds and hearts, as the apostle Peter explained to his listeners: "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out" Acts 3:19. The Kingdom of God is not for the lukewarm but for people committed to a profound change in humanity, a kingdom that makes us friends of God and brothers of our neighbor.
The Kingdom of God is in essence the perfection of God's plan that began with Adam and Eve, and this domain, supremacy, or empire of the divine excellencies ("Be holy, because I am holy" 1 Peter 1:16) that was manifested among men since Jesus, is the fulfillment of ancient prophecies made from the times of the prophets Moses and Samuel, as the apostle Peter taught in his speech:
"For Moses said, ´The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you. Anyone who does not listen to him be completely cut off from their people.´
Indeed, beginning with Samuel, all the prophets who have spoken have foretold these days. And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers" Acts 3:22-25.
Peter with this wise speech called the children of Abraham to conversion, to accept Jesus with simplicity of heart because the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to the humble: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" Matthew 5:3.
