Jabiru Mycteria originally from South America is the tallest flying stork from Americas. This strange bird is a real interesting character and is notorious for his swollen pink neck.
I love birds and my favourites are the smallest ones. But I attributed human qualities to this large flying stork character. How much patience do you think it has when bees and flies are flying around its head?
Have you ever encountered annoying situations, but did you continue to stay calm? These were my thoughts painting this watercolour drawing. I think how to deal with annoying people is one of the challenges of our life.
One of the best techniques is to take a big breath, stay calm, accepting that being calm doesn't mean you are weak and choosing a key word like tolerance or calm as an anchor for your mind.
Lot of work! Isn't it?
Take a look to see the steps I followed to complete this watercolour drawing!

Wow! Somehow you were able to portray an otherwise creepy bird in a cute way! I used to volunteer at the Santa Barbara Zoo (about 25+ years ago) and I used to prepare the food for many of the birds (cut up fruit, etc) and sometimes take it around and put the food dishes in the cages/exhibits for the animals. There were some storks that didn’t have an exhibit- so they were in a kennel in the back (large area) and they were tall (almost my height) and creepy! I always dreaded going in their area to give them food.
But- your painting makes this guy look super cute!

There must be an amazing experience to work in a Zoo! I can imagine that birds with strong beaks can be frightening. Thanks for your comment! :)
