I joined Steemit about a week ago. I'm always excited when I have a new painting to share! So far I've shared a few of my Mandala paintings, but I also create art in another style. I'm still not quite sure where the inspiration for this style comes from. I guess it reminds me of when I was a kid in the 80's. That's how creating art in this style feels to me - it makes me feel like a kid again!
Lots of bright colors and psychedelic patterns were popular in design, and video games were first available on home consoles. Kids traded rainbow Lisa Frank stickers at school. Ghostbusters and Ninja Turtles were probably my favorite cartoons. I can remember crazy fluorescent Zubaz jogging pants, bright and funky Swatch watches and the crazy set of PeeWee's Playhouse. Graffiti art was becoming a respected artform. I think this style just borrows a little bit from all those things and more and becomes it's own thing that I hope you enjoy looking at as much as I enjoy creating!

I named this one "Acid Raindrop" because it has that bold black drop shape outlined in white going off in weird directions, and lots of bright psychedelic colors at the bottom.

fantastic! i definitely feel that retro vibe through the palette and elements of the painting. i also can relate to the psychedelic feel to it, the drop shape and bottom colours are familiar!
