Baby Beluga Encaustic Painting: oil and encaustic on panel. 16.75" x 21.75"
This is another oil and encaustic painting I created. The painting portrays a mother beluga whale with her baby by her side. I was experimenting with layering the wax with suspended powder pigments in between. Here is an in process look at the painting:

The powdered pigments gave the painting some notable depth with more vibrant and pearlescent colors. Here is another picture of the finished piece. I would appreciate any and all feedback!! Thanks for looking.

I think it came out great, very unique. Do you ever mix the color into the wax or is it always layered?

Thank you much! I definitely mix colors into the wax. Wax is somewhat translucent so playing around with layering is fun. I pretty much always use layering with encaustics tho. Gives it volume when you're looking at it in real life.

This is my first time seeing this kind of art. It looks great and the effect that the process has on the final output is amazing! Encaustic painting... I need to look into that. Thanks for sharing!

Hey there, thanks! Yeah it's a wonderful medium to work with that has endless opportunities really. Check out my blog to see some other works I made with encaustics. If you are ever curious or have more questions about it let me know, I'd be happy to share!

So cool bro.

Thanks man!
