Dark white, skull bronze sculpture

in art •  7 years ago  (edited)

Antique bronze ornaments assemblage. 2011. 52cm high. 45cm large. 65cm long.
The biggest size of skull i've done. Teeth are made with knife handle. Bronze are from various origin: funeral, candelsticks, furnitures...

Thanks @mitchhunter !

awesome work, you have a new fan! ;)

Thanks @jb-design waiting part 2 of your first thread ;-)

Impressive! Gosh your shop must be full of all sorts of strange detailed bits waiting for their spot in a project. What fun!

Thanks! Yes and the research is a part of the work, to buy them and to retrieve them after in all my stuff :-) It's like a treasure each time.
This is a very little part i've bought some times ago :

I suppose it's the same for you with many stones :-)

Haha! Perfect! Bits & pieces of random shapes and objects that all have possibilities. Yes, I have some pretty scary studio corners where strange things pile up on stranger things. Not just stone, either. In fact, there's a good bit of dead projects. Glass that got fired badly, accidents where things went sideways and the project got abandoned, that sort of thing. All recyclable, of course, and so these things sit around and become relabelled as "raw materials".

Everything i must throw in the bin is carefully inspected and often outclassed as raw material even sweepings on the ground :-)
