Hello fellow steemians! A quick little build review for you today. A kit bash of the two mini kits from Bandai, the tie fighter and y-wing in 1\144 scale. These little kits are highly detailed for their size and build up to lovely little models. If you know me you should know that this wasn't going to be enough to keep me happy lol.
And here they are, from left to right they are known as a Y-TIE and a TIE-WING. The idea behind these little ships is fairly simple. And to my knowledge first appeared in the Rogue Squadron series of books by Michael Stackpole.
The idea is that these craft are cobbled together from pieces of different ships. The first example is a Y-Wing main body and some modified Tie fighter wings. It was said to be a reasonable craft, with good maneuverability, good weapons load out and strong shields.
The next ship is a tie fighter cockpit mated to a Y-Wings engines. Unfortunately for this ungainly looking craft it inherited poor handling from the Y-Wings original engines as well as the vulnerability of the original tie fighter. Lacking in weapons it is only armed with two standard lasers. Since it doesn't have the main body of the Y-Wing it is also lacking a shield generator. These have been given the derisive nickname of DIE-Wing in the canon. It is a shame as I actually really like it 😁
The painting of these kits was very simple, with primary coats with the airbrush and more detailed work with a brush. I will be uploading a build video this weekend showing the whole of the process if you are interested in trying to make one your self.
I loved these Star wars books growing up and I have always wanted to make some models of them. So tick for a little dream come true. 👍 Thanks for looking. Huge thankyou for all the votes, resteems and comments. I really appreciate it. I will have the video up in no time 👍👍👍 Until then, enjoy the weekend!
Pffft DIE wing XD On the one hand I guess you wouldn't want to be stuck in one of those things but desperate times? :)
