Christmas Wood Carvings

I have always been interested in making things and 10 years ago I had the opportunity to take up wood carving. An older fellow was giving lessons in his small shop and he had all the necessary tools, saws, even paints. Before long, I had my own supplies and began carving at home in earnest.

I wanted to share some of my Christmas carvings today.

This Nativity is one of my favourites! The figures and frame are carved of pine and painted with an acrylic wash, then sealed with a tinted linseed oil.

Here are a few whimsical Santas and a folk art snowman.

Seeing these at Christmas makes me want to dig out the tools and start all over again!
