Digital painting - PHOTO vs ART

Every once in a while I like to see how far I can take realism when painting digital.

This time I made a painting of my own eye, trying to make it look like the photo as much as I could!

Here is a little break down of the painting process. I used a simple round brush with slightly ragged edges and opacity set to pen pressure (this can only be done with a drawing tablet that is pressure sensitive).

It's not perfect, but if you look from a distance it looks like a photo, right? :)

Awesome!!! 🙌🙌🙌

Thanks so much :D

thats just fantastic ... if you didn't mention it .. i would have thought that its exactly the same

That is very realistic! I believe it was Pablo Picasso that said you must master realism before making your own style. (notice there are no "" because I couldn't find the exact quote.)

@artwithflo it's amazing , you did it like the real Pic.

Very nice Flo! We have the same eye colour ;)

Love the timelapse, always fun to see work in progress!

I'm speechless.

You're so good at this! 💜

This is amazingly good. How long did it take you to finish?

Great art, Keep growing.

Thank you! I'll do my best <3

nice video shows the process well. :)

Wow, that is fantastic. I can't differentiate between the photo and the painting

@artwithflo your work is truly amazing. When I first viewed the two eyes I thought it was two pictures. Once I read your post and looked again I was stumped for a while. After really studying I discovered that the iris in the painting is more oval than the one in the photo. Also, the eyebrow is smudged, and in the photo the individual hairs are more defined. Had I not read your post I would have wondered why you put two pictures of an eye up. Masterfully done. Please don't ask me to do art digitally, I'm only now beginning to do paint-by-numbers!

This is really good! I like the softness of the painting I think it's better than the photo in that way but it would be nice if the detail around the pupils was a bit sharper:)

So beautiful~. Can I ask which drawing tablet do you use?

Cool stuff! :)

This is really awesome! 😲

Wow amazing detail

This is amazing!! It looks just like a photograph. The level of detail is just crazy, especially in the iris itself. I tried an eye painting and it's no where near what yours is! How long did this take you? Great work!

Thanks so much! Glad to hear you like it :D I think this took about 1,5 hour.

Really great work! Here's my latest eye study, haha

A lot of work for me to do! You've got it down pat!
Really, fantastic work! I'm gonna be following you!

Thanks so much! And thanks for sharing your work, I'll check it out :D

This is the first video of yours I've checked out, and I got one thing to say:

Lady! You got SKILLS!

Amazing work! I'd like to sit on your shoulder and watch. I'm a rank amateur with "bit fiddlin'" and I truly stand in awe of this work.

Beautiful stuff, Flo. I think you just got a new follower.

Be talkin' to you.....WebRydr

Thank you so much, that is so kind of you to say 😃 I always get a bit nervous when people 'sit on my shoulder' and watch, but I do intend to do more livestreams and videos on YouTube.

I'll be needing to get my nerves under control though 😅
