Painting with Instant Coffee!

For my very first post on Steemit I thought I'd share with you guys my own personal experience with painting with coffee. If you're even half as addicted to Pinterest as I am, then I'm sure you've seen those intriguing monochromatic paintings with a paintbrush resting nonchalantly next to or even in a mug of coffee making a subtle cameo. I had to jump on the band wagon and try this myself. My subject: This patinaed gentleman pictured above. Granted, I reckon the final product turned out fine and dandy, however I encountered a few hiccups I did not anticipate.

#1. This Can Be Messy![IMG_1211.JPG]

I do not have the grace of a classically trained ballerina. Not in my legs, nor my arms nor hands. And I like to think I'm not alone in this. Halfway into my venture I knocked over my shot glass sized mason jar of instant coffee. Not pictured in this photo: my stained shirt sleeve.

#2. You may be absentmindedly drink more coffee than you realize.

Now to be fair, this may not be an issue for everyone. I happen to have been doing this with the jar of instant coffee as well as a tea kettle of water in front of me. As I was doing this project, I just kept absentmindedly refilling my mug. I also happen to be 5ft 2in and hover between 110 and 115 lbs. I drank waaaaaay to much coffee for my size... this may or may not have had an impact on me knocking over my coffee I was painting with...

#3. I do not doubt that even with a century of drying time, the final painting will still remain sticky.

You see this up here? It's been days. DAYS! And it remains sticky to the touch. If you decide to keep this in a sketch book like mine. Either pray to the Gods that it doesn't ruin the previous page in front of it, or place a piece of paper you have no emotional attachment to in between.

Now folks, you have read the fine print! If you choose to go forth with this project (and I hope you do, it was a blast) keep my little tidbits in mind. Take Care!!

Awesome!

I have a friend that told me about painting with coffee, I thought she was making fun of me at first, because I love coffee, but then I did some research and God, the things people can paint with coffee.

It may be sticky, it may be messy, but I think it's all worth for the final result.

Great painting by the way. Best of luck!

Thank you! It really was a ton of fun.
