Dear steemians,
@TheNewAlchemists and @LilyRaabe asked all people who are willing to be curators to answer these questions.
(1) What are your core values as a curator?
Justice and curiosity. Be an angry, sly, but witty curator who will not leave unnoticed any of the more or less interesting detail that gives signs of a piece of art. To research and search, to motivate and do not give up! To give hope for success and acknowledgement.
(2) What role should art and culture play in our society?
I think culture can't play any role because it's already part of our everyday life. A trash bin you see on the road is our culture, a car that brings it to the dump is our culture, a driver that smokes Marlboro through the window and listens to Kanye West is our culture.
With art is a bit tricky. I think it has to be accessible by any means but not pleasing someone's expectations. It would be great if it makes us think or feel or feel and think and of course to ask questions. The questions about you, about me, about your neighbour, about Trump, about history, about whatever could be critically re-interpreted.
(3) What categories of art would you like to cover, and in what language(s)?
Visual arts: sculpture, prints, drawings, installations, video art, animation, contemporary art…English and Russian.
(4) And because all hard work deserves a reward: what is your favourite meal to eat when you want to "treat yourself"?
I would answer with the painting by Rudolf II as Vertumnus* (c. 1590), Giuseppe Arcimboldo, which is exhibited in Kunst Historisches Museum in Vienna, Austria.
We LOVE this response--exactly what we're looking for! Thank you so much.
