Minimalistic City Skyline Wallpaper - Different Photoshop Techniques Series Part No.

in art •  7 years ago

So i'm going to be starting a new series, where in every new episode there will be a different photoshop tecnique used. And in this first part i'm making a slick minimalistic wallpaper with a powerfull city view.

As always i start with a blank page, in the begining there's never anything escept the ideas in my head waiting to be formed on the canvas. But you gotta start somehow.

First thing i did was add a slight almost unnoticable texture to the background and made a couple of different geometric shapes and made them into a some kind of puzzle.

After the puzzle has been made something had to be on it. I wanted the whole wallpaper to look as slick and clean as possible so i found a cool skyline photograph and cover the shapes with it. Also adding the white border around the shapes so it sticks out more.

It already looked kinda the way i wanted it to look like but it still need some kind of flair. So i added some more adjustments and shadows to the background. I made some parts of the city blurred and underneath the cracks of the puzzle i added light red glow. That was the final touch for the most part.

In the end this was made. I blurred some more parts of the city and sharpened the center. Ofcoure the rest of the background was also blurred so the main focal in the middle would get more attention. I brightend the lights in the city more and added some shadows. I also gave it a kinda spherical shape to make the middle pop out more.

I hope that you liked the final result , you can go here to download the full sized wallpaper.

Love it? Hate it? Feel free to leave any comments down below. You wanna see something else in the next series? Feel free to share. Till then.

Best wishes to you all, Vjeko
