A WEDDING AND A FUNERAL

Have you noticed at weddings, how older people poke the young,
As the Bride and Groom, the wedding march sung.
Yes, they poke them, wink, and whisper, “your next!”
Leaving that younger person confused and vexed.
They’re insinuating, of course, that that younger one may be eager to wed!
Not necessarily so, it must be said.
They may not necessarily openly disparage,
The very thought of committing to marriage.
But they probably haven’t given it much thought,
Certainly, not as much thought as they ought.
The wink signifies that they know full well,
That instinct will guide them, truth will tell.
As they grow older, and fall under it’s spell!
“Nod, Nod, Wink, Wink, Know what I mean?”
“Everyone wants to marry, even an Earl and a Queen!”

Apply such practice, when to a funeral you next go.
Sidle up to an old person, as if in the know!
As they lower the coffin into the pit.
Nudge that old person and say, you’re next (to flit)!”
