CROP CIRCLES Part 2 / Questions and Answers

Crop Circles

is a further study in a series of images I created with abstract symbols superimposed over natural backgrounds. It is the same idea we see in crop circles, the way fields of natural growth are used as a canvas.

Questions and Answers

I began with this photograph of clover. What I liked was the contrast the second variety of clover provided as a center of interest. Nothing has been done to alter this image, which on its own seems to work well.

In this second image there is a subtle difference, can you see it? I have added additional leaves to the lighter patch of clover. At the time that I did this I was interested in the idea of fractals and so the leaves that I added spread out in a fractal pattern.

This is the final image you can see I scrapped the fractal idea. It was not a waste of my time as I know I will use it at some other time. What I have done instead is to create an abstract symbol to balance the shape of the light patch of clover. The idea of the piece is to show a relationship between all the parts, as though they where communicating with one another. Whether actual crop circles are drawn by young schoolboys or space aliens is unknown, but the idea of crop circles is to suggest an alternate language.
