One of the best things about living in St Petersburg Florida is the vibrant art scene.
We have museums and galleries from world class artists.
We have the Museum of Fine arts and the Dali Museum in the bayfront area.
One of my favorite artists is Dale Chihuly.
He is a master of blown glass. And not just bowls and vases like you might expect.
He was trained as an architect so he creates whole sculptures and installations that
are part of the building. They can take up a entire room.
The shapes textures and colors capture the eye and imagination.
He was introduced to the St Pete art scene when the Museum of Fine Arts had a show.
I visited the museum and was awed by the scale and beauty of his works.
After the close of the successful show, The Chihuly Collection was opened.
These were shot at the old gallery in the bayfront area.
They have relocated to the Central arts district on Central Avenue.The associated Morean Art Center has a package where you can also watch a live demonstration at the Hot Glass Shop.

Chihuly is awesome! We had a Chihuly display at the Denver Botanic Gardens a couple of years age, and I went to see it twice! It was spectacular! We went once at night, which was really amazing since they use lights in different ways to give the glass a glowing effect.

I absolutely adore Chihuly's art. I saw a full exhibit in Oklahoma City while visiting my grandma about 10 years back. One of my favorite artists. I wasn't aware he created an exhibit in Florida. Thanks for sharing this info! Have a great day.

I am a photographer. At the time I just had a Sony point and shoot camera. Not the sharp focus I would have liked. I have some pics from the Hot Glass Demo. I might post some of those later.
