Today's my review will be most interesting to amateur astronomers. I want to talk about my most favorite book about space. There are probably more useful books for a novice star explorer, there are more entertaining, but this book has conquered my heart and is deservedly in great demand.

This is the album "The Planets: A Journey Through the Solar System" by Giles Sparrow. The translation of the book from English on russian was made by George Burba, who participated in the preparation of flights to the moon, in the preparation of flights to Venus, the launch of automatic interplanetary stations and this, of course, is a high-quality translation. But the most important thing in this book is how it is made.

In our time, nobody is surprised with documentary films, as well as computer animation dedicated to space, which is quite common and widespread phenomenon. But in this album there are more than two hundred colorful, authentic photos taken by probes, automatic interplanetary stations "Cassini", "Voyager", "Galileo", sent to us from the depths of space.

The journey through the solar system with the speeds that we are now available - takes many years. For years these pictures were collected, gradually, the planet behind the planet revealing to us the riddles and secrets of the most amazing landscapes, unimaginable, unique on the Earth. This is Venus, and Mars, and polar caps, and crevices, and amazing satellites of the giant planets (some methane seas on Titan it's wonderful). Each picture in the book is a script, but if computer processing is used, a peculiar contrast is introduced, colors are intensified, their saturation is changed and noted in a special comment. Each photo is commented out and each photo explains what is most interesting in this photo.

Interestingly everything, the picture is simply mesmerizing, and the subtitle "A Journey Through the Solar System" is quite consistent with what the book is. After completing its reading, you really will make this trip and get to know even the farthest planets and corners of our solar system.

The book is intended for any age, it is impossible to tear off an adult from it, it is impossible to tear off even a completely erudite specialist who studied similar phenomena or has some professional attitude to astronomy, but maybe many of these pictures were not seen or seen, but not in such quality. After all, one thing is a mathematical description or physical and chemical properties, set out in a dry article, and it's another thing to see with your own eyes and it's amazing.

The book will be so entertaining for the child that you are prepared to buy a telescope, if you do not have it, after reading it. It will be so entertaining for a high school student that using this book alone, you can build a whole school report, write an essay or an essay.

Well, just transfer all the pleasure from contemplating these landscapes, from the understanding that the power of science, the inspiration of humanity, has gone so far and learned so much, using generally imperfect and slow machines - it's worth a lot. The book inspires and in this its one of the main advantages, besides all the above.

I do not specifically publish scanned pages of the book, so as not to spoil the pleasure that you get when you open the book and see everything with your own eyes. Buy, read - you will not regret.
