Mural pieces for 1AM Oakland Generator's Art Talk featuring women in street art: Nina, Agana, and Bud Snow

Oakland is home to a broad array of female Graffiti writers and street artists. Truly, I feel like the city of Oakland is un-intentionally fostering some of the greatest urban artists of our time. It's not that it's more relaxed here, it's that the city has grown beyond its bounds and has bigger problems to attend too than your average tagger. There is also a great community here of artists as it's one of the less expensive cities to live and work in, in the Bay Area. I know many entrepreneurs that make a relatively stable living in the arts in the East Bay. I'm not saying that isn't changing though, at a rapid rate! With the expansion of the Bay's population, it seems inevitable that prices will rise and continue to relocate our long time residents. But for now, come kick it in Oakland, and relish in the movements that are so timely coming out of this neck of the woods! In particular, the amazing women that contribute to the street art and graff community here in Oakland.
