For Valentine's Day and for practice for an upcoming commission, I thought it would be appropriate to paint a dozen roses. At first I started with the classic red, but then I started manipulating the colors as I continued to paint them. These are all acrylics on canvas panel.

I started about half of them with a drawing, but I also just went for it with paint as I got more comfortable with the puzzle of the petals. I also painted a number of smaller 5"x5" roses when I found these frames!
