My Father´s Art: Sports

in art •  7 years ago

My father was a general manager at the Italian National Olympic Committee, a governmental body overseeing all sports activities in Italy. During his long professional life, he met lots of interesting people, including a very famous Italian painter named Renato Guttuso.

Guttuso was very fond of sports, authoring several paintings to pay tribute to sports and competition.

My father, in turn, in order to pay tribute to Guttuso, made a series of bronze plaques inspired by Guttuso´s art. Here are some of them:

I like the sense of tension and suffering emanating from them.

Things that are worthwhile in life are never easy.

Fantastic, looks like a lot of hard work went into these. Also, reminds me of the hard slog that sport and exercise provide personally, hard work!

I am a sports nut! Followed

Your father could not choose a better material. I believe that a paint wouldn't convey the same expressiveness. Thank you for sharing this.

your father has a great talent....looking forward for posts from you ..........convey my regards to your father

Wow. That looks fantastic. Wonderful art. Please describe the medium that was used!

Bronze, I believe.

These look very nice. In my town they call them "repujados". I always thought there was something almost magical about them.
