As always, I start with an ink wash sketch, however this time I experimented with using pencil as well on the rice paper.
I build the image with color and value by layering watercolor and the India ink wash. The image below shows how wet the rice paper can get. Before moving on, I have to wait for it to dry to see how the piece is progressing, then I decide a plan of action.
