[MY ART] Giving the second life to the pictures (step by step)

About one week ago I showed my artworks to one of my acquaintances and next day she made a surprise for me. She brought two pictures from her house with a request to fill them with life because they were quite old and the colors were really pale. Looking at them some kind of sadness and a bit boring feeling arouse in me.

My acquaintance said she had bought the pictures about 15 years before. Inspite of not vivid colors she did keep them on the walls because they reminded her of old Menorca. There was always in her mind a thought that one day she could restore them somehow. It looks this day has come!

I was very glad to get such a great opportunity as this was my first experience when I painted to order. Sure, at first there was some hesitation inside me whether I could do that or not, but then I decided that why not? Everything in life has always the first time. Go ahead! Moreover, the owner expressed the wish about refreshing the pictures even with some changes according to my vision. That is why, it was even more appealing because it gave me a way to introduce my artistic skills and imagination.

Now I would like to present to you the process of renovation in details.

Let me start with the first picture of a rural menorquin house. This is how it looked when I received the picture.

In this picture there was no blue color, even in the sky, and I decided to keep the concept, though I started not with the sky, but with wooden roof beams and black window and door holes.

Then it was a turn for the walls and warm yellow spot on the left. I made it more distinct than it originally was.

Having changed a bit a hue of green I restored the leaves and the grass.

After I worked on the elements before and near the entrance, like fencing and a porch with a stone.

And finished the artwork with coloring the ground into brown-green-black-white hues.
Here it is! The owner insisted that I put my name on the picture and I was pleased to do so.

The other picture was a landscape of Ciutadella port part when it was full of greenery and there were very few boats in the water. The picture showed the following.

I commenced with the water and the sky, though made some changed later during the process. I should say that the technique that was applied before looked like scratches. Being free to choose any style I preferred, I omited the scratches having added light flecks on the water.

The reddish house on the top, the brownish wall in the right corner were my next step.

Next elements as trees, the bridge, small house etc I drew in different order coming back to some areas again and again. The final version is here.

So to catch the difference I arranged the pictures BEFORE and AFTER close to each other.

And this is me with my creations.

After this shot I presented the pictures to my acquaintance and she was really happy to see the result. And, of course, I was happy that being my first client she was satisfied.
