Although the use of smartphones has negatively impacted our day to day lives as a society, several perks do exist. I believe that the issue isn't the access to having a smartphone like you stated. Instead, it's the control we let it have during our day to day life. To be frank, the fact that we, as a species, have become more and more individualistic in our thinking further dampens the empathy we give to our fellow neighbors. Watching someone suffer through the screen of their phone while someone is victimized is frightening!
