When Cthulhu gets bored inside R'lyeh

On earlier this year,i received an art commission via on my fiverr page.The client asking for a drumcover album with a reference of any mythical creature,so i decided to go with my own favourite creature,cthulhu .

This is the finished product.

This is the image reference that is given by the client.

The sketch

With the reference of cthulhu image i got from the internet with the reference that had been provided,this is the sketch i have come up.It may look messy and uncertain on this stage.

Lineart

I have cleanup the drawing,add some small detail,i add on bracelet on the chutlhu hand with a ancient word.
So,lets start with the coloring process.This is the fun part

Base color

This is how its look before i start shading and adding highlight .

Shadow and highlight

since this creature is under the sea (insert little mermaid song grin) the sunlight/highlight appear from the top.
Plus i make the creature look slimy with all the texture

Base color for background

i put dark turquoise color as the base color for the background

As you can see,the final product on the top of this post,i have add on some detail such as bubble,seaweed and a light on top.
I did all of this using clip studio software,from here you might think only take 5 layers but its actually 56 layer (i am dead inside)
I still actually still learning how to properly color my artwork but i am proud with how this artwork come up.
