MAKING JEWELS (TUTORIAL): Flying curivita (butterfly) pendant

in art •  7 years ago
Jewelery is an art that i am really pasionated about, because through metal it is possible to shape many elements, incorporate creative details that achieve a unique touch in each piece of art.

In the next tutorial, i show you how to make a pendant that incorporates hints in its design.

Materials:

Bronze blade

Sandpaper

Blowtorch

Paper, glue and scissors

Bronze wire

Jeweler's saw

Jeweler's files

Silver welding

Jeweler's hammers.

Flux

Step 1. Make the paper design of a pendant to which you can incorporate a hinge, in this case i decided to draw a Curivita (Butterfly). The design is glued on the bronze and cut with the jeweler's saw.

Step 2. The edges are filed with jeweler files.

Step 3. Cut a piece of wire and brass plate to make the hinge. The size is to taste.

Step 4. A clamp is made with a hammer with the blade over the wire. Previously the sheet is heated with the torch. The hinge is obtained after hammering on the entire surface of the sheet.

Step 5. The piece is welded with the flux and the silver solder, then sandpaper with the sandpaper.

Step 6. The links of the hinge are cut this way.

Step 7. Solder the links in this way.

Step 8. Melt the end of the wire so that the hinges do not come out, then insert the wire into the holes.

Step 9. With a piece of bronze foil and round tongs, make a hoop for said, then sand the edges.

Step 10. Solder the hoop and sand the entire piece with sandpaper.

I got this result, i hope you like it a lot. This piece is very special because the wings of the butterfly have the ability to move very easily, it is a different piece and that brings a lot of creativity.

Some photos of me while making the piece:
