Dane Patterson – One Minute Object Study Animation #6

in art •  8 years ago  (edited)

This short animation started out a bit differently than the others in this series. I'd been writing down notes from dreams and I put a few of the descriptions together. These were just short fragments of ideas and none of the elements added up to a complete narrative. I took these loose concepts and tried to flesh them out more through drawing.

The first sequence I started was a of a single candle on a table with plasma globes on either side… I drew these sections with my iPad and worked them together in Adobe After Effects.

As the other visual elements developed I started to become interested in drawing outdoor scenery; rock formations, large dolmans, and stars in the night sky. I added random objects into these environments such as paintings on sign stands, a mounted television, a mannequin covered with paint and materials, and a large billboard style road sign. (As with the other animations I'm basically trying to be as random as possible with my choices of objects to include.)

Once all the drawing and animation were completed I added in the sound elements using some synthesizers and Ableton live software.
I hope you enjoy it.
