"Resistance" (6x6 oil on panel) painting process

Good morning. Here is a tiny still life painting I made last year.

"Resistance" (6x6 oil on panel)

Here is the physical setup below. This black skull was a one-off experiment from the replica maker Skull Shoppe. It's a fun one to paint. As I continue to post my paintings here on Steemit, you may start to notice that I have a thing for foil....and skulls....and cloth...:

This painting was made entirely with a painting knife (Holbein knives are the best). The start below is a simple massing. I tone my panels with different colors. Some form of umber is my most common ground, but in this case it's a light green:

Awesome work... Sill didnt get how you made this.. :)

:) ;) Thank you

That's pretty cool.

Thanks! :D

Knocking 'em out of the park like always David! :)

Hey James, you got any recommendations/favorite artists that I should follow here on steemit?

As Steemit has been still relatively "new", I have to admit that it has been a challenge. So far I've found a few! :

https://steemit.com/@mayasky

https://steemit.com/@gric

There needs to be more artists that's for sure. I've been doing as much as I can to get people to make the transition from FB. I can see so much potential for painters on here you know? It had its time and place, but it's crazy to think about how much time and energy is spent over there with no rewards whatsoever!

Awesome thank you James, I followed these! I agree, the potential is huge for painters.

You're quite welcome! :)

Awesome thanks man!

Where did you get the skull? Did you paint it black yourself?

It was a black one-off replica from Skullshoppe, look him up, great skulls! I have three skulls so far...
